EDCD's early warning reporting system aggregates sentinel-site reports, so a jump in cases can reflect improved reporting rather than true incidence. Before you escalate: check the number of reporting sites, whether the case definition is suspected or confirmed, and the denominator. Compare against the same week in previous years, not just the previous week.
Referral quality decides outcomes more often than transport speed. Send a written referral note with vitals trend, time of onset, treatment already given with doses and times, allergies, and the specific question you want the receiving unit to answer. Call the receiving facility before dispatch so a bed and team are ready.
